The San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks try for a series win on Sunday after playing a couple of nail-biters.
SF clipped Arizona 1-0 on Friday and fell 4-3 on Saturday. The D-Backs landed the first three blows, with Miguel Montero's, Gerardo Parra's and Willie Bloomquist's bats during the fourth.

The Giants, though, responded with three runs of their own three innings later. San Francisco scored on Gregor Blanco's home run, Marco Scutaro's triple and Buster Posey's single. Eric Chavez's RBI-single walked Arizona off with the victory, however. The Diamondbacks held a slight edge in hits 12-11 over the Giants, who were led by Hunter Pence's three hits.
Sunday's starting pitching matchup appears to be a major disadvantage for SF, who will take their hacks at Patrick Corbin (13-4, 2.79 ERA). The Giants are 35-of-133 with 14 RBIs, four from Pence, versus Corbin, who has tossed in two no-decisions with San Francisco already this year. Arizona won 6-4 at AT&T Park and 3-1 at Chase Field, however.
Corbin conceded two and one run during 7.1 frames. Corbin is 8-1 at Chase, his only loss July 28 to the San Diego Padres 1-0. Corbin surrendered a run during eight innings. The D-Backs, however, won Corbin's last two outings in Phoenix, despite him leaving with no-decisions. In all of Corbin's victories, the opposition has driven in 12 runs, 11 earned, during 58.2 frames.
The Giants go wth Yusmeiro Petit (1-0, 3.18 ERA), who won 6-3 at the Colorado Rockies Aug. 27, allowing two runs during six innings. In SF against the Cincinnati Reds July 23, Petit surrendered two runs during 5.1 frames in a 9-3 Giants defeat. Arizona's Cody Ross is 0-of-4 with a walk against Petit, who will be severely outmatched here. I'm counting on the Diamondbacks offense to make Corbin not have to throw a near-perfect game.
