Cincinnati's Greg Reynolds (1-2, 4.74 ERA) shone, conceding three runs during eight innings. Brandon Phillips, Joey Votto, Shin-Soo Choo and Ryan Ludwick drove in Reds. Of the four Cincinnati hitters, only Ludwick didn't drive in runs during two at-bats. Colorado, meanwhile, scored via Jordan Pacheco's RBI-double and Corey Dickerson's home run. The Rockies were 0-of-4 with Runners In Scoring Position. The Reds were 4-of-13.
Mike Leake (11-5, 3.27 ERA) leads the way for Cincinnati from the mound on Sunday. The Reds are 2-4 in Leake's last six trips and winless in his last three outings on the road. Leake allowed nine runs during 18.1 innings, although seven of those frames were scoreless ones, coming at the San Diego Padres. Cincinnati fell 2-1 July 29, even with Leake's phenomenal stuff.
Leake is 7-1 in away voyages, only going down 6-3 at the Washington Nationals on April 27, allowing four runs, three earned, during three frames. Conversely, Leake surrendered six runs during 47.2 innings. The Reds trumped Colorado 10-3 last year in May, even with Leake giving up three runs during 3.2 frames. The Rockies are 16-of-43 with 10 RBIs, eight Tyler Colvin's, versus Leake.
Colorado returns to the rubber with Tyler Chatwood (7-4, 3.15 ERA), who will be making his first start since July 31. Chatood was awful that day at the Atlanta Braves, allowing eight runs, seven earned, during 2.1 innings. At Coors Field, however, Chatwood is 4-1, falling only to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the start of July, yielding six runs, five earned, during five frames. Chatwood conceded seven runs, six earned, alone during 23.2 innings in four Coors victories.
At Cincinnati June 3, Chatwood lost 3-1, seeing in a run during four frames. The Reds are 3-of-22 with a Todd Frazier RBI against Chatwood. Cincinnati loses the finale at Coors Field.
