Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Toronto Blue Jays Free Pick 9/3/13
2013-09-03 08:40:00 EDT
The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Toronto Blue Jays meet on Tuesday for game two of their interleague series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks aren’t going to be playing in the postseason and when they look back it will be winnable games like they lost on Monday that will be the difference. Martin Prado, Gerrardo Parra, and Cliff Pennington had hits as the D-backs scored one run on four hits. Brandon McCarthy went the distance allowing five hits and four runs while taking the loss. For Tuesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Wade Miley who is 0-1 in his last three starts despite having a 3.00 ERA and he is 9-9 on the season with a 3.55 ERA.
The Toronto Blue Jays are more than likely going to see changes over the offseason so the next few weeks may serve as auditions for next year’s team. On Monday Edwin Encarnacion hit a home run and Ryan Goins and Moises Sierra had hits as the Blue Jays scored four runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Esmil Rogers allowed just one hit over 6.1 innings to get his fourth win of the year and Casey Jansen earned the save. For Tuesday’s game the Blue jays start Todd Redmond who was moved back from Monday’s game. Redmond is 1-1 in his last three starts with a 6.00 ERA and 2-2 on the season with a 4.30 ERA.
Arizona is 5-1 in their last six interleague games, 21-7 in their last 28 games as a favorite, and 5-2 in Miley’s last seven starts. Toronto is 6-2 in their last eight games, 3-7 in their last 10 games as an underdog, and 2-7 in their last nine road games.
