2013-09-04 06:05:00 EDT
The New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox meet for game three of their series on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium.
The New York Yankees looked to be headed for a loss on Tuesday, but a late inning rally turned it around as they got a much-needed win. Derek Jeter and Eduardo Nunez each had two hits and Alfonso Soriano drove in two runs as the Yankees scored six runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda trailed from the start and didn’t get a decision as Boone Logan got the win and Mariano Rivera earned his 40th save of the year. For Wednesday’s game, the Yankees start C.C. Sabathia, who is 12-11 on the season with a 4.91 ERA and 2-1 in his last three starts and a 7.27 ERA overall.
The Chicago White Sox appeared to have a win in their grasp on Tuesday, but they let it get away, taking a loss in the Bronx. Alejandro De Aza had three hits, including a home run, Gordon Beckham had two hits and Adam Dunn had a hit as the White Sox scored four runs on seven hits. Chris Sale pitched well enough to win allowing three runs and striking out six over 7.1 innings, but Nate Jones took the loss when Donnie Veal blew the save. For Wednesday’s game, the White Sox start Erik Johnson, who makes his first Major League start. In the Minors this year, Johnson has a 12-3 record with a 1.96 ERA striking out 131 over 142 innings.
New York is 14-3 in their last 17 home games, 16-7 in their last 23 games overall, and 52-20 in Sabathia’s last 72 starts. Chicago is 4-1 in their last five game three of a series, 0-5 in their last five games as an underdog, and 0-5 in their last five games overall. Chicago is 7-19 in their last 26 games in New York.

I am as interested as anyone to see how Johnson does, but the Yankees are just rolling right now.
