The Houston Astros and the Minnesota Twins close out their series on Wednesday in Houston.

The Houston Astros rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning to get their game against the Twins into extra innings, but they couldn't close the deal ad they lost the game. Brandon Barnes had three hits including a home run, Chris Carter had a home run, and Robbie Grossman and Trevor Crowe each had two hits as the Astros scored six runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Jared Cosart allowed five hits and four runs, while striking out five over 4.0 innings for a no-decision and Kevin Chapman ended up taking the loss, allowing three runs in an inning. For Wednesday’s game, the Astros start Jordan Lyles, who is 6-7 with a 5.12 ERA and 2-1 in his last three starts with a 3.54 ERA.

The Minnesota Twins gave up the lead late, but took it back and held it in extra innings to get the win. Trevor Plouffe had four hits including a home run, Josmil Pinto had four hits, Darin Mastroianni had three hits, and Brian Dozier hit a home run as the Twins scored nine runs on 16 hits. Starting pitcher Pedro Hernandez allowed six hits and two runs over 6.0 innings to not factor in the decision and Caleb Thielbar got the win and Josh Roenicke earned the save. For Wednesday’s game,  the Twins start Liam Hendriks, who is 1-2 with a 5.13 ERA on the season and 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in his last three starts.

Houston is 15-44 in their last 59 games, 21-49 at home, and 15-45 in Lyles’ last 60 starts. Minnesota is 7-1 against the AL West, 2-6 as an underdog, and 2-5 in Hendriks’ last seven starts. Minnesota is 6-1 in Houston.

The Twins seem to not to have much trouble with the Astros and I don’t see that changing here.
