The Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers face off on Friday in Anaheim for game one of their weekend series.
The Los Angeles Angels have been disappointing all season long but they are looking to finish with a flurry. The Angels are 7-3 in their last 10 games and 33-39 at home but they are nine games under .500 for the season. As a team the Angels are hitting .263 with Mike Trout hitting .335, Howie Kendrick hitting .301, and J.B. Shuck hitting.290. For game one against the Rangers the Angels start C.J. Wilson who has been the brightest spot for the Angels this year. For the season Wilson has a 14-6 record with a 3.35 ERA and he is 1-0 in his last three starts with a 2.95 ERA.
The Texas Rangers lead the AL West but it just by a half of a game over the Oakland A’s. The Rangers are 5-5 in their last 10 games 41-30 on the road this season. As a team the Rangers are hitting .263 with Adrian Beltre hitting .322, A.J. Pierzynski hitting .276, and Ian Kinsler hitting .272. For game one in Anaheim the Rangers start Matt Garza who is 3-2 with a 4.04 ERA since joining the Rangers and he is 1-1 with a 4.35 ERA in his last three starts.
Los Angeles is 5-1 in their last six games against a right-handed starter, 10-3 intheir last 13 games, and 4-1 in Wilson’s last five starts. Texas is 5-1 in their last six games as an underdog, 24-10 in their last 34 games overall, and 4-1 in Garza’s last five starts. Texas has wont he last seven meetings of these two.
While the Rangers have Angels number Wilson has been money all season and I don’t look for that to change here.
