The Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers face off on Saturday in game two of their series.
The Los Angeles Angels haven’t had much to cheer about this season but they got a chance to play spoiler as they beat the Rangers on Friday. Mark Trumbo hit a home run, Mike Trout had three hits, and Erick Aybar had two hits as the Angels scored six runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher C.J. Wilson allowed seven hits and four runs over 6.2 innings to get the win and Erneto Frieri earned the save. For Saturday’s game the Angels start Garrett Richards who is 506 with a 4.06 ERA for the season and 2-1 with a 2.87 ERA in his last three starts.

The Texas Rangers are now tied for the lead in the AL West as their loss paired with an A’s win cost them a game in the standings. Elvis Andrus and Alex Rios each hit home runs and Ian Kinsler and A.J. Pierzynski each had two hits as the Rangers scored five runs on nine hits. Matt Garza took the loss as he allowed none hits and six runs, five earned over seven innings. For Saturday’s game the Rangers start Derek Holland who is 9-7 on the season with a 3.07 ERA and 0-1 in his last three starts with a 4.32 ERA.
Los Angeles is 11-3 in their last 14 games, 4-11 in their last 15 home games, and 5-1 in Richard’s last six home starts. Texas is 8-1 in their last nine game two of a series, 24-11 in their last 35 games overall, and 40-17 in Holland’s last 57 starts as a favorite. Texas is 7-1 in the last eight meetings of these two.
The Rangers are simply the better team of these two and I look for them to level the series with a win here.
