The Houston Astros pulled the upset on the A’s on Thursday but were unable to repeat it on Friday as they lost in Oakland. Jonathan Villar had three hits and Jose Altuve, Trevor Crowe, and Brett Wallace had two hits each as the Astros scored five runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel allowed 10 hits and five runs lasting just 3.1 innings to take the loss. For Friday’s game the Astros start Brett Oberholtzer who is 4-1 on the season with a 2.79 ERA and 2-0 with a 3.10 ERA in his last three starts.
Oakland is 9-2 in their last 12 games, 6-2 in their last eight home games, and 1-4 in Strally’s last four starts against the AL West. Houston is 17-45 in their last 62 games, 16-43 as an underdog, and 5-1 in Oberholtzer’s last six starts. Houston is 3-8 in their last 11 games in Oakland.
There is a lot of value on Houston with the edge in starting pitching here but the A;s are simply the better team.
