The San Diego Padres and the Colorado Rockies meet on Saturday for game two of their series in San Diego.
The San Diego Padres rallied late in the ninth inning on Friday to grab the win against the Rockies on Friday. Chase Headley and Will Venable both hit home runs and Ronny Cedeno had two hits as the Padres scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Burch Smith allowed four huts and two runs while striking out seven over 5.0 innings but it was Huston Street who got the win. For Saturday’s game the Padres start Tyson Ross who is 3-7 on the season with a 2.99 ERA and 0-2 in his last three stats with a 4.67 ERA.

The Colorado Rockies looked to have Friday’s game in hand but they couldn’t hold on as they took the loss. Todd Helton hit a home run, D.J. LeMahieu had two hits, and Troy Tulowitzki had a hit as the Rockies scored three runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Juan Nicasio allowed four hits and two runs while striking out seven over 6.0 innings but Rex Brothers blew the save and took the loss. For Saturday’s game the Rockies start Tyler Chatwood who is 7-4 on the season with a 3.29 ERA and 1-1 in his last three starts with an 8.74 ERA.
San Diego is 4-1 in their last five home games, 5-2 in their last seven games as a favorite, and 0-4 in Ross’ last four starts. Colorado is 16-35 in their last 51 road games, 23-59 as a road underdog, and 1-4 in Chatwood’s last five road starts. Colorado is 12-5 in their last 17 games in San Diego.
I look for the Rockies to bounce back here and hold on to it this time.
