The Texas Rangers face off against the Angels on Sunday afternoon, hoping to avoid the three game sweep.
The Los Angeles Angels are looking to have the brooms out on Sunday, in hopes of a three game sweep of Texas. The Angels got the win on Saturday night in impressive fashion, defeating the Rangers 8-3. On the mound for the Angels was Richards, who was impressive, going seven full and allowing just one earned run (two total) on just six hits. Starting for LA on Sunday will be Jason Vargas. Vargas has plenty of experience against the Rangers, having 15 starts against Texas under his belt. The LA lefty has had mixed results against Texas, owning an ERA of 4.44 and a WHIP of 1.41 against Texas.

The Texas Rangers just couldn’t get it done on Saturday against the Angels in Anaheim. Texas had Holland on the mound, but the Angels hit him hard, putting up eight hits against the Texas starter and sending across eight runs total (four earned). Holland lasted five and two thirds innings against LA. Texas will have Nick Tepesch on the mound against LA on Sunday. Tepesch is yet to face LA, but the Texas righty has done well on the road, earning an impressive WHIP of 1.11 away from their home field.
It looks like there has been some money coming in on the Rangers early on, as the number has moved from -115 to -112 in some offshore books.
The Rangers have played well on the road this season, going 41-31 overall, while the Angels at home are just 34-39 on the year. So far during September, the Rangers are just 1-4, while the Angels are a solid 4-2.
Honestly this game looks like a toss-up as I don’t see much of an angle either way. In a toss-up situation like this, I’ll go ahead and take the better odds with the Rangers, but personally, I am laying off this one.
