The Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees face-off on Wednesday at Camden Yards.
The Baltimore Orioles are trying to make a push into the postseason, but they lost a chance to gain a game on Tuesday, as they lost to the Yankees. Chris Davis hit his 49th home run, J.J. Hardy had two hits, and Brian Roberts had a hit as the Orioles scored five runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez allowed six hits and three runs striking out six over six innings to get a no-decision, while Kevin Gausman blew the save and took the loss. For Wednesday’s game, the Orioles start Scott Feldman who is 5-4 with a 3.63 ERA since being traded to the Orioles and 2-1 with a 0.66 ERA in his last three starts.
The New York Yankees are clawing their way back into the Wildcard race and they helped themselves out with their win on Tuesday. Alfonso Soriano hit two home runs, Mark Reynolds had two hits, including a home run, and Alex Rodriguez had two hits as the Yankees scored seven runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Ivan Nova allowed six hits and four runs as Adam Warren got the win and Mariano Rivera earned his 42nd save. For Wednesday’s game, the Yankees start Andy Pettitte, who is 10-9 wit a 4.03 ERA and 1-0 with a 2.37 ERA in his last three starts.
Baltimore is 5-2 in their last seven home games, 4-2 in their last six games, and 6-2 in Feldman’s last eight starts as a favorite. New York is 2-4 in their last six games, 5-10 in their last 15 road games, and 1-5 in Pettitte’s last six starts as a home underdog. New York is 1-6 in their last seven games in Baltimore.
This should be a good one, but I give the edge to the Yankees with Pettitte’s veteran experience,
