The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet on Tuesday for game two of their series.
The Los Angles Dodgers had lost four games in a row but home cooking seems to have cured all as they bombed the Diamondbacks on Monday. Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez, Andre Ethier, and hit home runs and Juan Uribe hit three home runs as the Dodgers scored eight runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco allowed three hits and a run while striking out six over 6.2 innings to get the win, his 13th of the season. For Tuesday’s game the Dodgers start Edinson Volquez who is 9-11 on the season with a 6.05 ERA and 1-1 in his last three starts with a 10.24 ERA.

The Arizona Diamondbacks never got the bats going on Monday and even if they did I am not sure it would have been enough. Eric Chavez, Martin Prado, and Gerrardo Parra each had hits as the Diamondbacks scored one run on four hits. Starting pitcher Randall Delgado lasted just 2.2 innings but it was long enough to take the loss as he allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out two. For Tuesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Trevor Cahill who is 6-10 with a 4.35 ERA on the season and and 1-0 with 2.95 ERA in his last three starts.
Los Angeles is 54-17 in their last 71 games, 38-13 in their last 51 games as a favorite, and 37-16 in their last 53 home games. Arizona is 5-12 in their last 17 road games against a team with a winning record, 6-2 in game two of a series, and 6-15 as a road underdog of up to +150. Arizona is 5-2 in their last seven games in Los Angeles.
While the Dodgers are the better team, Volquez isn’t a viable option these days and while I won’t be playing this one my play wouldn’t be on Volquez and the Dodgers.
