The New York Mets and the Washington Nationals meet on Tuesday for game two of their series at Citi Field.
The New York Mets had absolutely no answers on Monday as they were nearly a no-hit at home on Monday against the Nats. Zach Lutz had the Mets lone hit and Daniel Muprhy had a walk as the Mets were scarce on base runners. Starting pitcher Carlos Torrez allowed five hits and six earned runs, while striking out four over 4.0 innings to take his fourth loss of the season. For Tuesday’s game, the Mets start Dillon Gee, who is 11-9 with a 3.53 ERA for the season and 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA in his last three stats.

The Washington Nationals didn’t need much offense on Monday, but they got plenty as they pounded the Mets in New York. Denard Span, Ryan Zimmerman, Jayson Werth, Wilson Ramos, and Tyler Moore all hit home runs as the Nationals scored nine runs on nine hits. Gio Gonzalez went the distance, allowing a hit and striking out eight over the full nine innings to earn his 10th win of the season. For Tuesday’s game, the Nats start Jordan Zimmerman, who is 16-8 on the season, with a 3.30 ERA and 2.01 in their last three starts with a 2.82 ERA,
New York is 206 in their last eight games, 2-7 in their last nine home games, and 5-2 in Gee’s last seven starts. Washington is 5-1 in their last six games, 21-8 as a favorite, and 36-16 in Zimmerman’s last 52 starts The Nationals are 16-4 in their last 20 games in New York.
This one sets up to be low scoring and my free pick is on the under. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that pick in Premium Area.
