The Seattle Mariners host the rival Houston Astros in game two of their series at Safeco Field.
To sum up the Astros season to date you simply need to glance at their record which says they are on the fast track to losing 100 games. Unfortunately it's not a question of if because it is going to happen sooner then later. Not enough hitting or pitching has been the obvious issue but the Stros got some of both in Monday's 6-4 win at Seattle. Starter Jarred Cosart allowed an unearned run in five innings with Josh Fields getting the save despite giving up a run. The Astros bats came to life in a four run 9th with Jonathan Villar rapping a two run single. Houston is scheduled to start Jordan Lyles Tuesday who faces the Mariners for the 4th time in 2013. Lyles record tells the story of his struggles on the year with a 6-7 record and an ERA north of five.

Seattle won' be finishing last in the American League West thanks to Houston coming over from the National League but the Mariners have been slowly fading which has erased any chance of finishing the 2013 campaign with a winning record. The M's have the same problems they have had in previous years and that revolves around scoring runs or lack there of. In Monday's loss we saw the piching stumble badly in the 9th which robbed the team of what appeared to be a sure win. Rookie Taijuan Walker allowed two runs through five frames before Danny Farquhar had a 9th inning melt down with four runs plated in 1/3 of an inning. Abrahan Almonte paced the attack with a two run bomb while Brad Miller went solo. Left hander Joe Saunders toes the rubber Tuesday night against the visiting Astros. Saunders has suuffered through his share of bad times with an 11-13 record through 29 starts with a 4.95 ERA.
The bottom line in this game is I expect Houston to lose but I see pitchers with similar numbers and one is at a big price so I would not risk the juice and play the dog or walk away...
