The Oakland A’s are looking to build their lead in the A.L. West and they were unable to do that on Tuesday as they took the loss in Minnesota. Alberto Jose Callaspo hit a home run, Eric Sogard had two hits, and Yoenis Cespeds had a hit as the A’s scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Jarrod Parker allowed seven hits and two runs over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as Ryan Cook blew the save and took the loss. For Wednesday’s game, the A’s start Sonny Gray, who is 5-11 with a 4.97 ERA for the season and 1-2 with a 4.00 ERA in his last three starts.
Minnesota is 9-21 in their last 30 home games, 2-4 in their last six games overall, and 5-2 in Pelfrey’s last seven starts. Oakland is 8-3 in their last 11 games overall, 8-2 in their last 10 games as a road favorite, and 63-29 against a team with a losing record. Oakland is 5-2 in the last seven meetings of these two.
Minnesota got a nice win on Tuesday, but look for them to fall hard on Wednesday.
