The Milwaukee Brewers are playing for pride only at this point of the season. The Brewers are down two games to none on the Cards, and even though the game doesn’t mean anything to them in the standing, the Brewers would love to avoid the sweep by a division rival. The Brewers will be sending Tyler Thornburg to the mound on Thursday against the Cards. Thornburg has one career start against the Cardinals. In that start, Thornburg lasted four and two thirds innings, giving up two runs off of five hits.
The Brewers have really struggled on the road this season, going just 31-42 away from Miller Park. The Cardinals on the other hand have played very well at Busch Stadium, with a record of 46-25 at home. The Cardinals have also dominated divisional opponents this season, going 41-28 overall.
I’m going to make a play on the run line for the Cards here. I have tried to find an angle to take the Brewers over the Cards, but really, I just don’t see one. Normally I don’t play run lines as it can be a very tough call in baseball, but this is just way too much juice for me to lay.
