The Tampa Bay Rays got off to a strong start in their three-game series with the Twins on Friday, and the Rays will look to keep that momentum going at Target Field on Saturday.
The Minnesota Twins fell to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Friday Night by the score of 3-0. The Twins sent Correia to the mound on Friday against the Rays, but Correia was ineffective. The Twins starter lasted six innings, but gave up three runs off of eight hits, earning the loss. The Twins will hope to have better luck on Saturday when Minnesota sends out Andrew Albers against the Rays. Albers has yet to face the Rays in his career. Albers has four starts at Target Field this season, going 1-2 with an ERA of 2.10 and a WHIP of 0.70.

The Tampa Bay Rays earned a much needed win on Friday as the Rays try and keep pace with the Rangers for the AL Wild Card race. The Rays sent Archer to the mound on Friday against the Twins. Archer lasted six innings, pitching a three hit shutout, walking none and striking out seven. Tampa Bay will be hoping for a similar performance on Saturday from Matt Moore. Moore has two career starts against the Rays, earning a record of 1-0 against Tampa with an ERA of 3.95 and a WHIP of 1.17.
The Rays are solid on the road as a heavy favorite, going 3-1 this season, while as a home underdog of +125 to +150 the Twins are 8-9 on the year. The Rays also fair well off of left handed starters, going 27-22 on the season, while the Twins are 14-19 against lefties.
I think the Twins have a slight pitching edge here, especially with their bullpens. I don’t think it will be enough, however, to trump the fact that the Rays really need to keep winning right now. The Twins are basically playing out their season, while the Rays are in a heated battle for the Wild Card race. I don’t normally like laying this much juice, but in this spot it looks like the best play.
