The Cincinnati Reds continue to hang around in the N.L. Central race and they helped their own cause on Saturday as they knocked off the Brewers. Shin –Soo Choo and Joey Votto each hit home runs and Todd Frazier and Ryan Ludwick each had two hits as the Reds scored seven runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Homer Bailey allowed five hits and three runs over 7.0 innings to get the win and Aroldis Chapman earned the save. For Sunday’s game the Reds start Bronson Arroyo who is 13-11 with a 3.58 ERA and he is 0-2 with a 5.19 ERA in his last three starts.
Milwaukee is 2-7 in their last nine home games, 5-1 in game three of a series, and 5-1 in Gallardo’s last six starts. Cincinnati is 3-5 in their last eight road games, 2-4 against a team with a losing record, and 1-5 in Arroyo’s last six starts with 5 days of rest. Cincinnati is 4-8 in their last 12 games in Milwaukee.
Gallardo has been at the top of his game and as meaningful as this one is to the Reds it doesn’t matter the Brewers are an easy choice in this one.
