The Texas Rangers and the Oakland A’s face off on Sunday in Arlington as they close out their series.
The Texas Rangers have dropped five games in row including Saturday’s one run loss to Oakland. Ian Kinsler and A.J. Pierzynski each had two hits and Elvis Andrus and Alex Rios each had hits as the Rangers were shutout on seven hits. Starting pitcher Yu Darvish allowed four hits and a run while striking out 10 over seven innings to take the loss. For Sunday’s game the Rangers start Martin Perez who is 9-4 with a 3.60 ERA and 2-1 with a 3.50 ERA in his last three starts.

The Oakland A’s are starting to pull away in the A.L. West as after Saturday’s win their lead is at 5.5 games over the Rangers. On Saturday Brandon Moss had a hit and a RBI, Josh Donaldson had a hit and scored a run, and Daric Barton had a hit as the A’s scored one run on four hits. Starting pitcher Bartolo Colon allowed seven hits and struck out seven over 7.0 innings to get the win and Grant Balfour earned his 38th save. For Sunday’s game the A’s start Jarrod Parker who is 11-6 on the season with a 3.55 ERA for the season and 1-0 with a 3.32 ERA in his last three starts.
The Rangers are 0-6 in their last six home games, 7-20 in their last 27 games against a team with a winning record, and 7-1 Perez’s last eight starts. Oakland is 7-1 in their last eight games, 7-2 in their last nine road games, and 4-1 in Parker’s last five starts. Oakland is 6-1 in Parker’s last seven starts against Texas.
The A’s are rolling and the Rangers are struggling and I look for that to continue here as the A’s get the sweep and count down their magic number.
