The Seattle Mariners head to the Motor City to tske the field with the Detroit Tigers on Monday.
Seattle has had the look of an improved team this season but obviously need some more help offensively and on the mound to be more competitive. That will be something to address in the off season as the end of the year draws closer. The loss column got a little bigger on Sunday with both the arms and bats struggling in a 12-2 loss at St Louis. Starter Erasmo Ramirez gave up five runs over four innings with the pen giving up seven more which put the offense way behind the eight ball. The M's mustered five hits and walked twice with an RBI single from Abraham Almonte and a sac fly accounting for the scoring. Struggling lefty Joe Saunders will be on the bump looking to tame the big offense of the Tigers. Saunders hopes to bounce back from a 13-2 loss to Houston where he was charged with six runs in three frames.

Detroit enters the final weeks of the season looking to nail down the American League Central title and preparing for the first round of the postseason. The Tigers took a step towards that goal in a 3-2 decision over the division rival Royals on Sunday behind a few clutch hits and a strong performance on the mound by Max Scherzer. Scherzer received a no decision but was dominant with a single run scored on five hits through seven frames while striking out 12. Drew Smyly picked up the win despite giving up a run over one inning of work. The Tigers launched a 13 hit attack with Alex Avila smacking a two run bomb and solo shot. The Tigers send right hander Rick Porcello to the bump against the visiting Mariners on Monday. Porcello picked up a 9-1 victory last time out verst the White Sox with a lone run allowed in a complete game effort.
I am going with Detroit with an edge going to their offense and pitching here. There is no guarantee but Saunders has been struggling and this isn't a lineup to face when things aren't going well...
