The Texas Rangers pay a visit to Tropicanna Field to battle the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday.
Texas might be one of the front runners for the Wild Card but the team can't be happy with the way things have been going as of late. The Rangers have dropped six in a row and nine of ten following a 5-1 loss to Americal League West leading Oakland. Texas suffered a home sweep at the hands of the A's which might have ended their hopes of winning the division. Martin Perez threw a winnable game with three runs given up over 6.1 frames but that was too much for for the bats who connected on a respectable ten hits. AJ Pierzynski was the lone source of scoring with a 1st inng RBI single that scored Elvis Andrus. Texas is scheduled to send Matt Garza to the bump to face Tampa Bay to open a week day series. Garza hopes to put an end to a three game losing streak when takes on his former team for the first time.

All I can say about Tampa Bay's 6-4 defeat at Target Field is really? The Rays get a stellar performance from David Price and watch Joel Peralta give it all back in just one inning. Price allowed two runs through six frames and than hand Peralta a 4-2 lead before he promptly gives up a solo jack followed by a three run homer to put an abrupt end to a three game winning streak. The offense wasn't great but did give the team leads of 3-0 and 4-2 which went for naught. Wil Myers paced the offense with a 2-2 day with two runs scored and a two run bomb while Sean Rodriguez went solo. Tampa Bay is scheduled to send Alex Cobb to the hill hoping to get his team a step closer to the playoffs. Cobb was mediocre the last time out versus the Red Sox when he allowed three runs over 5.2 frames.
To cut to the chase I favor Tampa Bay but they aren't completely dependable but I guess they are playing a struggling team which I am not going to bet so this seems like the best way to go...
