The battle for second in the AL Central rages on with Cleveland and Kansas City facing off again on Tuesday.
The Indians are doing their best to stay in postseason contention but those hopes took a step back in Monday's 7-1 defeat at Kansas City. The Indians have still won seven of eleven behind outstanding performances on the mound and at the plate but they need much more. Tuesday was one of the few nights the Tribe struggled in all phases with starter Scott Kazmir charged with with four runs on seven hits in five frames with the pen unable to put out the fire. In the scope of things it didn't matter with the offense unable to get untracked with Lonnie Chisenhall clubbing a solo homer. Corey Kluber will be called on to contain the Kansas City attack Tuesday night. Kluber shoots for his 10th win and third in a row with four runs allowed on eleven hits covering a pair of five inning stints.

Following Monday's victory over the visiting Indians, Kansas City moved to within two games of second place of the American League Central. The Royals have won seven of eleven with some strong pitching and hitting leading the way. Having said that, taking over the second spot in the division does not guarantee a postseason berth unless KC keeps winning and gets some help along the way. The only hep they received Monday was from their own arms and bats with James Shields coming up big with the lone run given up over six innings while striking out ten. The KC bats launched a 14 hit attack that saw six players drive in runs and five score. Danny Duffy is scheduled to face the dangerous Cleveland lineup if his ailing elbow is 100%. Duffy has struggled in back to back starts in which he has given up three runs on seven hits over eight frames.
I was on Kansas City Monday and I'm flip flopping to Cleveland here with Duffy nursing a sore elbow. Kluber is capable but needs to go more then five innings...
