The Texas Rangers ended their losing streak on Tuesday after losing seven in a row they knocked off the Rays. Ian KInsler, Leonys Martin, and Elvis Andrus each hit home runs as the Rangers scored seven runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Alexei Ogando allowed two hits and a run while striking out four over 5.0 innings to get the win. For Wednesday’s game the Rangers start Derek Holland who is 9-9 with a 3.49 ERA and 0-3 with a 10.12 ERA in his last three starts.
The Rays are 23-11 in their last 34 home games, 2-5 in their last seven home games against a left-handed starter, and 11-5 in Archer’s last 16 starts. Texas is 2-4 in their last six road games, 4-13 in their last 17 games, and 21-8 in Holland’s last 29 road starts.
Holland has been awful of late and while Archer has struggled as well it hasn’t been as bad and with the Rays being home they are the choice here.
