The Toronto Blue Jays are one of the biggest disappointments in baseball this season but they are taking full advantage of their role of spoiler as they knocked off the Yankees on Tuesday. Rajai Davis and Colby Rasmus each hit home runs and Jose Reyes added a hit as the Blue Jays scored two run on nine hits. Starting pitcher R.A. Dickey allowed four hits and struck out eight over 7.0 innings to get the win and Casey Janssen earned his 31st save. For Wednesday’s game the Blue Jays start J.A. Happ who is 4-6 with a 5.15 ERA on the season and 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA in his last three starts.

The New York Yankees are watching there post season hopes slip away as they lost on Tuesday and there are now four teams between them and the top two. Curtis Garanderson, Robinson Cano, and Alfonso Soriano had hits as the Yankees failed to score on five hits. Starting pitcher Andy Pettitte allowed six hits and a run while striking out five to take the loss and fall to 10-10 on the season. For game two the Yankees start Phil Hughes who is 4-13 with a 5.07 ERA for the season and 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA in his last three starts.
Toronto is 4-8 in their last 12 games against the A.L. East, 2-6 in their last eight home games, and 1-4 in Happ’s last five starts. New York is 16-5 in their last 21 games as a favorite, 1-7 in their last eight road games against a team with a losing record, and 2-5 in Hughes’ last seven starts against a team with a losing record. The Yankees are 36-17 in the last 52 meetings of these two.
