The Houston Astros would love to play spoiler this series as the Astros head to Cleveland on Thursday to face the Cleveland Indians.
The Cleveland Indians are playing well lately, winning four out of their last six. The Indians need to keep winning however if they are to keep up in both their divisional, and the wild card races in the AL. The Indians were unable to keep winning on Wednesday, falling 7-2 to the Royals in Kansas City. The Indians had Salazar on the mound against the Royals on Wednesday, and Salazar had his struggled against this K.C. lineup. The Indians Starter lasted six full innings, giving up four runs off of six hits on the night. Cleveland used six different arms from the bullpen on the night, and now having to travel home and face the Astros with no rest, fatigue could be an issue for the ‘pen this series. The Indians will send Ubaldo Jimenez to the hill on Thursday. Jimenez has yet to face the Astros in his career, but the Indians starter has done decent this season, posting an ERA of 3.49, a WHIP of 1.37 and a record of 12-9.

The Houston Astros again have nothing to play for but pride at this point in the year. Well, pride and the fact that they can help knock off the Indians, and this team would love to try and put a hamper on Cleveland’s playoff aspirations. The Astros are coming off a 6-5 loss to the Reds on Wednesday. Houston had Peacock on the hill against Cincy, and Peacock got hit hard by the Reds, giving up four runs off of six hits in just five and two thirds innings of work. Houston will have Dallas Keuchel on the mound Thursday against the Indians. Keuchel is just 6-9 on the year with a high ERA of 5.17 and a WHIP of 1.55.
The Astros struggle everywhere they play, but especially on the road this season as Houston is just 27-47 this year in road games. Also, when listed as an underdog of +175 to +200, Houston is just 3-12 on the year. The Indians are 45-30 at home on the year, and in September, Cleveland is a solid 11-5 overall.
I’m going to have to take the under here on Thursday. I know Keuchel has gotten shelled lately, but Jimenez has been lights out in his last three starts, posting an ERA of 0.42 and a WHIP of 1.031. Both teams are traveling in after games on Wednesday, and fatigue could be an issue here.
