The Toronto Blue jays and the New York Yankees face off on Thursday in Toronto as they close out their series.
On Wednesday the Blue Jays appeared to have the game in hand, but they let the Yankees rally late and ended up taking the loss. Colby Rasmus and Ryan Goins each hit home runs and Jose Reyes and Brett Lawrie had hits, as the Blue Jays scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher J.A. Happ allowed four hits and a run while striking out seven over 7.0 innings, but it was Steve Delabar who took the loss. For Thursday’s game, the Blue Jays start Todd Redmond, who is 3-2 with a 4.10 ERA for the season and 2-0 with a 3.18 ERA in his last three starts.

The New York Yankees appeared to be done on Wednesday, but they rallied in the eighth inning and got the win. Robinson Cano and Vernon Wells each had two hits and Alfonso Soriano had a hit as the Yankees scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Phil Hughes allowed four hits and two runs, lasting just 3.1 innings and it was David Huff who got the win and Mariano Rivera who earned the save. For Thursday’s game, the Yankees start Hiroki Kuroda, who is 11-11 with a 3.13 ERA for the season and 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in his last three starts.
Toronto is 2-6 in their last eight games, 2-7 in their last nine home games, and 2-5 in Redmond’s last seven starts, New York is 12-4 in their last 16 games against a team with a losing record, 1-4 in their last five road games, and 0-5 I Kuroda’s last five road starts. New York is 5-1 in Kuroda’s last six starts against the Blue Jays.
