The Chicago White Sox visit Comerica Park for the last time in 2013 where the Detroit Tigers await.
As the season winds down for the White Sox I think it's clear the team has to revamp the offense that has struggled to score throughout 2013. The rotation has a few nice arms but they need some run support to be competitive on a regular basis. That pretty much sums up their season and was what we saw in Wednesday's 4-3 defeat to Minnesota. Starter John Danks wasn't great with all four runs plated over the first two innings before settling down to go seven frames but the damage was done. Alejandro De Aza homered and Danks knocked in two with a single but the CWS didn't threaten much. The White Sox send rookie Andre Rienzo out to face the heavy hitting Tigers for the second time. Rienzo did well the first time around with a no decision in a 3-2 loss when he gave up two runs over six frames.

Detroit doesn't always win impressively but they do win a lot and that is why they lead the American League Central. The Tigers 5-4 win over visiting Seattle on Thursday featured plenty of scoring and just enough pitching. The bottom line is Detroit has won seven of nine and is inching closer to another division crown. Doug Fister was hit hard but survived with all four runs plated on nine hits and and a base on balls while striking out ten over 7.2 frames. The offense rose to the challenge on a nine hit, five walk attack that saw Torii Hunter go deep while Victor Martinez smack a pair of RBI doubles. Max Scherzer will be on the bump in game number one of the series with the white Sox. Scherzer has failed in his bid to reach 20 wins with four straight tries resulting in an 0-2 record and a pair of no decisions.
Without going in to detail I won't play this with the laughable odds. The run line has no value and perhaps the Tigers could be used in a parlay but not for me...
