The Cincinnati Reds visit PNC Park to battle the division rival Pittsburgh Pirates Friday evening.
Cincinnati is right on the tail of Pittsburgh for second in the National League Central with the Buccos right on the tail of St Louis for the division lead. All that means is anybody can land any where in the division whith each team needing to finish the year strong. The Reds have won three in a row after upending Houston 6-5 in 13 innings. Greg Reynolds gave up a pair of runs in 3.1 frames with the relief corp allowing three runs the rest of the way. The offense consisted of nine hits and a whopping eleven walks with Jay Bruce leading the way with three RBI's including a two run double in the top of the 13th. Mat Latos opens the series on the mound at PNC Park on Friday. Latos has been a major reason for the Reds success in 2013 and has been very effective over his last ten with eight quality starts.

Pittsburgh was in danger of getting swept by visiting San Diego in a four game series which would have been a huge blow to their National League Central hopes. Not to worry as the Pirates pitching and hitting came up huge in a 10-1 rout with the added benefit of the Cardinals losing to pick up a game in the standings. Geritt Cole continued his solid pitching with the lone run plated on four hits through six innings pitched. The bats pounded out 14 hits and walked six times with Jose Tabata and Neil Walker driving in three runs while Pedro Alverez knocked in two. Left hander Francisco Liriano squares off with visiting Cincinnati on Friday. Liriano has been enjoying a career type year with seven quality starts the past ten times out where he has gone 6-3.
This might be better to watch then bet with a postseason atmosphere as both teams need this one. I have rode Liriano all year and this is his biggest game of the year and I'll ride him again...
