The Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros face off on Tuesday for game two of their series in Texas.
The Texas Rangers kept their playoff hopes alive on Monday as they pounded the Astros in Arlington. Alex Rios had four hits including a home run, Elvis Andrus had three hits, and Ian Kinsler and A.J. Pierzynski each ad two hits as the Rangers scored 12 runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Derek Holland allowed six hits and struck out nine for the complete game shutout. For Tuesday’s game the Rangers start Yu Darvish who is 13-9 with a 2.81 ERA and e is 1-2 with a 1.89 ERA in his last three starts.
The Houston Astros are going to finish with the worst record in baseball and they were blanked by the Rangers on Monday. Trevor Citeme had two hits, Jose Altuve had a hit, and Matt Dominguez had a hit as the Astros failed to score on six hits. Starting pitcher Jordan Lyles allowed seven hits and seven runs lasting just three innings and taking the loss. For Tuesday’s game the Astros start Brad Peacock who is 5-5 with a 5.24 ERA for the season and 2-0 with a 2.89 ERA in his last three starts.
Texas is 10-4 in their last 14 game two of a series, 4-10 in their last 14 games, and 1-6 in Darvish’s last seven starts. Houston is 21-57 in their last 78 games, 30-68 against the AL West, and 1-4 in Peacock’s last five starts against a team with a winning record. Houston is 8-23 in their last 31 games at Texas.
Darvish hasn’t been at his best and he is at an unbettable price so why not take a punt on the Stros here at the gigantic price.
