The Atlanta Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers face off on Tuesday in Atlanta for game two of their series.
The Atlanta Braves have clinched the NL East and they took Monday off going through the motions in their loss to the Brewers. Justin Upton, Andrelton Simmons, and Elliot Johnson each had hits but the Braves didn’t score on the three hits total. Starting pitcher Mike Minor allowed eight hits and three runs while striking out six over 7.0 innings to take the loss. For Tuesday’s game the Braves start Freddy Garcia who is 1-2 with a 1.31 ERA for the season and 1-1 with a 1.38 ERA in his last three starts.

The Milwaukee Brewers are playing out the final week of the season and they looked motivated to play hard until the end getting the win on Monday. Carlos Gomez, Janathan Lucroy, and Aramis Ramirez each hit home runs as the Brewers scored five runs on 11 hits in all. Starting pitcher Marco Estrada allowed two hits and struck out six over 7.0 scoreless innings to get the win. For Tuesday’s game the Brewers start Tyler Thornburg who is 3-1 with a 1.96 ERA for the season and 2-1 with a 2.00 ERA in his last three starts.
Atlanta is 27-12 as a favorite, 24-14 against a team with a losing record, and 44-18 in their last 62 home games. Milwaukee is 2-7 in game two of a series, 6-2 in their last eight road games as an underdog of up to +150, and 9-17 against a team with a winning record. Milwaukee is 6-1 in the last seven meetings of these two.
The Braves were simply apathetic on Monday so it is tough to believe they will be more than that here so my play is on the Brewers.
