The St. Louis Cardinals and the Washington Nationals face off on Tuesday in St. Louis for game two of their series.
On Monday the St. Louis Cardinals fell behind early but came back to win and maintain their lead in the NL Central. Carlos Beltran hit a home run, Matt Adams had two hits, and Yadier Molina had a hit as the Cardinals scored four runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Adam Wainwright allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out five over 7.0 innings to get the win and Trevor Rosenthal earned the save. For Tuesday’s game the Cardinals start Michael Wacha who is 3-1 with a 3.21 ERA for the season and he is 1-1 with a 3.24 ERA in his last three starts.

The Washington Nationals aren’t going to make the post season but they have plenty took look forward to for next year but they took the loss on Monday. Jayson Werth had a home run and Bryce Harper and Ian Desmond had hits as the Nationals scored three runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Tanner Roark allowed nine hits and four runs while striking out five over 5.0 innings to take the loss. For Tuesday’s game the Nationals start Gio Gonzalez who is 11-7 with a 3.39 ERA for the season and 2-1 with a 2.57 ERA in his last three starts.
St. Louis is 8-2 in their last 10 home games, 20-8 in their last 28 games as a favorite, and 1-4 in Wacha’s last five starts. Washington is 24-9 in their last 33 games, 13-4 in their last 17 road games, and 1-4 in Gonzalez’s last five starts as an underdog. Washington has lost five in a row to the Cardinals.
