The Mets look to throw a Monkey Wrench in to the postseason drive of Cincinnati once again.
The Mets have picked up a little steam over the last week or so in their push to lock up the third spot in the National League East. The New Yorkers made four early runs hold up to hand the Reds a 4-2 defeat and put a dent in their Central title dreams. The Mets have now won four of five with both the arms and bats on the same page, which was key once again Tuesday. Jonathan Niese came up big with both runs given up on eight hits over seven frames to pick up the win. The Mets offense was led by Daniel Murphy, who crushed a three run long ball. The Mets send Daisuke Matsuzaka to the hill to control the dangerous offense of Cincinnati on Wednesday. Matsuzaka had a few rough outings when he joined the rotation, but has settled in to go 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA over his last three.

Depite Tuesday's defeat, the Reds have been playing well with wins in three of four. Tuesday's loss was their second straight, which means they might have to sweep the remaining schedule and hope for a lot of help in order to capture the National League Central crown, with both Pittsburgh and St Louis ahead of them. Starter Mike Leake had one of those outings where nothing went his way with all four runs plated on eight hits through only 1.2 innings pitched. The Reds offense never got untracked, with eight hits and a pair of ground outs plating runs. Mat Latos toes the rubber against the visiting Mets looking to get the Reds back in the win column and right his own ship in the process. Latos has struggled the past two times out with nine runs scored in 12.2 innings.
It might not be wise to go against Matsuzake right now, especially the way Latos has struggled. Betting on either team is guessing the respective hurlers continue on their same path. I hate betting this guy and I won't because he will fall all over himself if I do, but for a free pick...
