The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Wednesday in San Francisco as they continue their NL West rivalry.
The San Francisco Giants have had a subpar season and they were reminded of that once again as they lost to the Dodgers on Tuesday. Angel Pagan had two hits, Tony Abreu hit a home run, and Buster Posey had a hit. Starting pitcher Matt Cain allowed seven hits and two runs, while striking out four over 7.0 innings to take the loss. For Wednesday’s game, the Giants start Barry Zito, who is 4-11 with a 5.91 ERA for the season and 0-3 with an 11.57 ERA in his last three starts.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been going through the motions as they head into the postseason, but they did enough to get a win on Tuesday. Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp each had home runs and Carl Crawford had three hits as the Dodgers sored two runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Hyun-Jim Ryu allowed four hits and a run, while striking out six over 7.0 innings to get the win and Kenley Jansen earned the save. For Wednesday’s game, the Dodgers start Ricky Nolasco, who is 13-10 with a 3.55 ERA for the season and 1-1 with a 7.62 ERA in his last three starts.
San Francisco is 2-5 in game two of a series, 4-2 against the NL West, and 5-13 in their last 18 games as a home favorite. Los Angeles is 5-2 in game two of a series, 36-16 in their last 52 road games, and 10-2 in Nolasco’s last 12 road starts. Los Angeles is 3-5 in their last eight games in San Francisco.
Neither of these pitchers have been any good recently, but I give Nolasco and the Dodgers the edge here.
