The Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros face off on Wednesday and the Rangers hope to move up into a Wildcard spot in the AL.
The Texas Rangers needed every run they got on Thursday, but their three runs were enough to get the win. Adrian Beltre hit a home run, Geovany Soto had two hits, and Alex Rios had a hit as the Rangers sored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Yu Darvish allowed four hits and two runs, while striking out nine over 5.1 innings, but it was Neil Cotts who got the win and Joe Nathan earned the save. For Wednesday’s game, the Rangers start Martin Perez, who is 9-5 with a 3.54 ERA for the season and 0-2 with a 4.24 ERA in his last three starts.

The Houston Astros fought hard on Tuesday, but in the end they came up short, losing to the Rangers. Matt Dominguez hit a home run, Jose Altuve had two hits, and Matt Krauss had a hit as the Astros scored two runs on six hits. Brad Peacock allowed six hits and three runs, while striking out seven over 6.0 innings to take the loss. For Wednesday’s game, the Astros start Dallas Keuchel, who is 6-9 with a 4.99 ERA for the season and 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in his last three starts.
Texas is 6-13 in their last 19 games overall, 11-5 against a left-handed starter, and 7-3 in Perez’s last 10 starts. Houston is 21-28 in their last 79 games, 18-56 in game three of a series, and 1-4 in Keuchel’s last five starts. Houston is 8-24 in their last 32 games at Texas.
I liked the Astros chances on Tuesday, but I don’t like them here so my play is on the Rangers.
