The Line: San Francisco Giants -124 / Los Angeles Dodgers +114 --- Over/Under: 7 See the Latest Odds
The Los Angeles Dodgers face the Giants on Thursday in the third game of their three game set.
The San Francisco Giants don’t have much to play for right now, but be that as it may, the Giants still found a way to beat the Dodgers on Thursday 6-4. The Giants had Zito on the hill against LA, and Zito finally got back into the win column on the night. The Giants starter last five innings against the Dodgers, allowing just two runs off of four hits on the night. San Francisco needed four different arms from their bullpen to finish off the Dodgers. San Francisco will have Lincecum on the hill Thursday against Los Angeles. Lincecum is 10-14 on the year thus far with an ERA of 4.44. In his career against the Dodgers, Lincecum is 9-6 with an ERA of 2.93 and a WHIP of 1.33. The last time Lincecum faced LA, he lasted six innings, giving up three runs off of five hits, earning the win.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to take the series from the Giants on Thursday night in San Francisco. The Dodgers felt to eh Giants on Wednesday night with Nolasco on the hill. The Dodgers starter gave up a three run second to the Giants, and the Dodgers were never able to recover from there. Nolasco lasted five and two thirds innings against SF, allowing six runs on eight hits. The Dodgers will have Edinson Volquez on the hill Thursday against the Giants. Volquez is 9-12 on the season with an ERA of 5.77. Volquez has ten career starts against the Giants, and owns a record of 2-2 with an ERA of 5.92 and a WHIP of 1.61 against San Francisco. In Volquez’s last outing against the Giants, the Dodgers starter lasted five and two thirds, giving up three runs off of five hits, resulting in a no-decision.
The Dodgers are solid on the road this season, going 45-35 on the year. And coming off a loss, Los Angeles is 36-30 this season. The Giants are just below the .500 mark at home this season with a record of 38-39. During the month of September, the Giants have been playing better, going 13-10 overall.
I’m going to go ahead and lay the points with the Giants here. The Dodgers are just trying to cruise their way to the playoffs at this point, and the Giants have nothing else to play for, so they might as well try and get a series win at home. Not my favorite play of the night, but in this spot the Giants look like the choice.
