The Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies face off on Friday in Atlanta for game two of their series.
The Atlanta Braves have clinched the NL East but they made a statement on Thursday pounding the Phillies in game one of their series. Jason Heyward hit a home run and Freddie Freeman and Evan Gattis each had two hits as the Braves scored seven runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher David hale allowed seven hits and a run while striking out five over 6.0 innings to get the win. For Friday’s game the Braves start Kris Medlen who is 14-12 with a 3.24 ERA for the season and 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in his last three starts.

The Philadelphia Phillies will miss the post season once again but they have an off-season to evaluate their talent. On Thursday Erik Katz ad two hits, Jimmy Rollins had three hits, and Kevin Frandsen had a hit as the Phillies scored one run on nine hits. Starting pitcher Tyler Cloyd allowed eight hits and seven runs while striking out two lasting just one inning to take the loss. For Friday’s game the Phillies start Cliff Lee who is 14-7 with a 2.93 ERA and 2-1 with a 2.35 ERA in his last three starts.
Atlanta is 9-4 in their last 13 games against a left-handed, 1-6 following a win, and 23-6 in Medlen’s last 29 starts. Philadelphia is 16-37 in their last 53 road games, 1-8 in their last nine games, and 5-2 in Lee’s last seven starts. Philadelphia is 2-7 in their last nine games in Atlanta.
Clloyd never gave the Phillies a chance on Thursday but with Lee look for the Phillies to come back with the win.
