The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals meet on Friday as they play game two of their season ending series.
The Chicago White Sox fought hard on Thursday but they came up just short against the Royals on Friday. Paul Konerko and Adam Dunn each hit home runs and Avisall Garcia had a hit as the White Sox scored two runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Andre Rienzo allowed four hits and three runs while striking out four over 6.0 innings to take the loss. For Friday’s game the White Sox start Chris Sale who is 11-13 with a 2.97 ERA for the season and 1-1 with a 2.95 ERA in his last three starts.

The Kansas City Royals scored late to get the win on Thursday but they will be watching the post season from home this year. David Lough hit a home run, Mike Moustakas had two hits, and Billy Butler added a hit as the Royals scored three runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie allowed four hits and two runs over 7.0 innings to get the win and Greg Holland earned the save. For Friday’s game the Royals start James Shields who is 12-9 with a 3.21 ERA for the season and 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA in his last three starts.
Chicago is 3-8 in their last 11 home games, 5-2 in their last seven games as a favorite, and 18-8 in Sale’s last 26 home starts. Kansas City is 5-1 against a left-handed starter, 13-3 on the road against a team with a losing home record, and 17-5 in Shields’ last 22 starts. Kansas City has won five in a row in Chicago.
This one belongs to the pitchers but I look for the White Sox to get the best of it in a tight one.
