The Texas Rangers square off with the Los Angeles Angels hoping to keep alive in the Wild Card race.
The Angels obviously won't be in the postseason but they could be the ultimate spoiler and prevent the American League West rival Rangers from reaching the playoffs. It didn't work out that way Thursday with tha Angels dropping a 6-5 decision to their rivals. Jerome Williams had been throwing well before allowing three runs in five frames before the pen faltered with Michael Kohn serving up a lead off homer in the 9th to take the loss. The bats totaled 13 hits and used four Texas errors to score three runs in the 3rd with Mike Trout driving in two. Los Angeles turns to left hander CJ Wilson to spoil the playoff plans of the Rangers. Wilson has been one of the steadiest members of the rotation with eight quality starts in ten outings where he has gone 6-1.

Texas somehow found a way to beat the Angels and remain one game behind Cleveland for the last Wild Card. The Rangers overcame four errors to some how win a game that seemed destined for the loss column. Matt Garza was tagged for eleven hits and had four errors committed behind him but gave up four runs (one earned) through five frames. The offense saved the day with 12 hits and a single base on balls with Leonys Martin smacking a two run double in the 6th with pinch hittter Jurickson Profar leading of the 9th with a walk off solo homer. Alexi Ogando is scheduled to be on the mound Friday if his ailing shoulder is 100%. His shoulder looked fine the last time out when he tossed seven scoreless inning but didn't get a decision in a 4-0 loss to Kansas City.
Wilson has generally struggled in this match up and backing him is hoping he doesn't struggle while backing Ogando is hoping his shoulder problems don't pop up which is where I'm headed for now...
