The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks -116 / Washington Nationals +106 --- Over/Under: 9 See the Latest Odds
The Washington Nationals got a solid win against the Diamondbacks on Friday at Chase Field, and will be looking for more of the same on Saturday.
The Diamondbacks jumped out to an early lead over the Nationals on Friday, but it wasn’t enough as Washington went off mid-game, scoring eight runs combined in the fourth, fifth and eight innings. The Diamondbacks had Corbin on the hill against the Nationals. Corbin lasted just five innings, giving up five runs off of six hits on the day. The Diamondbacks will have Brandon McCarthy on the hill Saturday against the Nationals. McCarthy has 11 home starts this season, going 3-4 in that span with an ERA of 3.91 and a WHIP of 1.24. The Diamondbacks have been hitting the ball well lately, averaging 4.4 runs per game during the past week.

The Washington Nationals got a solid win on Friday against the Diamondbacks. The Nationals had their ace Steven Strasburg on the hill on Friday against Arizona. Strasburg went seven full innings against the Diamondbacks, allowing just two runs off of six hits in that span. The Nats will have Dan Haren on the hill Saturday as the Nats hope to take game two in Arizona. Haren is just 9-14 on the year, with an ERA of 4.87. Haren has one career start against the Diamondbacks, and in that outing, Haren went six full innings, giving up three runs off of six hits on the day, resulting in a no-decision. The Nationals are only averaging 3.9 runs per game this past week, but their pitching has been solid, holding opponents to just an average of 3.1 runs per game in that span.
The Nationals are 46-39 this season coming off a win, and against right handed starters, the Nats are 59-56 this season. The Diamondbacks are 41-38 this year after a loss, and in the month of September, Arizona is just 11-15.
I like the Nats to get their second win of the series here. Haren wasn’t exactly lights out against Arizona the last time he faced the Dbacks, but lately, Haren has been excellent, going 1-1 with an ERA of 2.00 and a WHIP of 0.889 in his last three starts. McCarthy is solid, but has been getting hit hard lately, going 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in his last three outings.
