The Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox face off on Saturday for game two of their series.
The Baltimore Orioles couldn’t make it two years in a row into the playoffs and they were reminded why as they lost to the Red Sox on Friday. Adam Jones and Chris Davis hit home runs and Brian Roberts had two hits as the Orioles scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Scott Feldman was bombed allowing eight hits and eight runs over 2.1 innings to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the Orioles start Wei-Yin Chen who is 7-7 with a 4.03 ERA for the season and 0-0 with a 5.51 ERA in his last three starts.

The Boston Red Sox are looking to hit the post season with momentum and they looked ready for action beating up on the Orioles on Friday. David Ortiz, Daniel Nava, and Jonny Gomes all hit home runs as the Red Sox scored 12 runs on 16 hits. Starting pitcher Clay Buchholz allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out four over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 12-1 o the season. For Saturday’s game the Red Sox start Jon Lester who is 15-8 with a 3.67 ERA for the season and 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA in his last three starts.
Baltimore is 7-3 in their last 10 games against a left-handed starter, 2-7 against the AL East, and 7-3 I Chen’s last 10 home starts. Boston is 9-3 in their last 12 road games, 22-8 in their last 30 games, and 5-2 in Lester’s last seven starts. Boston is 4-7 in their last 11 games in Baltimore.
At this point it is clear the Red Sox are much the better and the take once again here.
