The Houston Astros and the New York Yankees close out their series and their seasons on Sunday as they face off in Houston.
The Houston Astros will finish the season with the worst record in baseball but they can only hope it is a learning experience and something they can build on for the future. On Saturday Jose ALtuve had two hits and Chris Carter and J.D. Martinez each had hits as the Astros scored on run on five hits. Starting pitcher Paul Clemens allowed five hits and two runs while striking out four over 5.1 innings to take the loss. For Sunday’s game the Astros start Erik Bedard who is 4-12 with a 4.81 ERA for the season and 0-2 with an 8.10 ERA in his last three starts.

The New York Yankees didn’t do much offensively but they got a solid performance from future Hall of Famer Andy Pettitte to get the win. Robinson Cano had two hits as did Ichiro Suzuki and Chris Stewart as the Yankees scored two run on eight hits. Pettitte went the full nine innings in the final game of his career allowing five hits and a run to go out a winner. For Sunday’s game the Yankees start David Huff who is 3-1 with a 6.06 ERA for the season and 0-1 with a 24.30 ERA in his last and only start.
Houston is 21-61 in their last 82 games, 22-52 in their last 62 home games against a team with a winning record, and 0-4 I Bedard’s last four home starts. New York is 3-5 in their last eight road games, 2-4 in their last six games, and 0-4 in game three of a series. New York is 11-1 in the last 12 meetings of these two.
This is the end of an era for the Yankees and they send out some of the greatest to ever play the game like they spent most of their careers, winners.
