The Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins face off on Monday for a MLB Opening Day matchup in the AL Central.

The Chicago White Sox are coming off one of their worst seasons in years as they failed to get wins on the road and they were out of the race early. The White Sox had the third worst record in baseball last season finishing 30 games out in the AL Central. The White Sox big money going out an getting Cuban free agent Jose Abreu who brings with him a world of talent. Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko will both be DH’s with mainstays Alexei Ramirez and Gordan Beckham in the infield. Avisail Garcia and Alejandro De Aza man the outfield with Dayan Viciedo playing plenty as well. Chris Sale, the winning pitcher of record from last year’s All Star Game, gets the Opening Day start while Matt Lindstrom inherits the closer role.

Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins Pick, Odds, Prediction 3/31/14

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Twins finished last season 30 games under .500 so while they finished in fourth place in the AL Central they were 27 games back in the division. The Twins were outscored by 174 runs last season and they were 29-47 in the division. Joe Mauer is the anchor and face of the Minnesota organization and will be at first base again this season. Alex Presley is on center field, Brian Dozier is at second base, and Jason Kubel is the DH. Ricky Nolasco gets the start for Opening Day after coming off of an up and down year where he couldn’t but a win and then went on a nice winning streak playing with both the Marlins and the Dodgers. Glen Perkins is the closer with Brian Duensing in the set up role.

Chicago is 4-10 in their last 14 home games, 17-38 against the AL Central, and 16-7 in Sales’ last 23 starts as a home favorite. Minnesota is 5-2 on the road against a left-handed starter, 7-19 against the AK Central, and 0-4 in their last four road games. Chicago is 4-1 in Sales last five starts against the Twins.

We have two pitchers who can get it done here and while this one is in a hitter’s park I still like the under. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
