The Oakland A’s and the Cleveland Indians meet in MLB action from Progressive Field on Tuesday night.

The Oakland A’s will look to build on a 6-3 win over Texas from Sunday’s series finale. Jed Lowrie and Sean Murphy each had two RBIs with Murphy adding a double while Seth Brown had a solo home run and Starling Marte went 4 for 5 with an RBI to cap off Oakland’s scoring as a team in the win. Mark Canha went 2 for 4 with a double and Josh Harrison had a pair of hits as well while Elvis Andrus added a base knock of his own to cap off Oakland’s scoring as a team in the winning effort. James Kaprielian got the win to improve to 6-4 on the year after allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts over six innings of work. Lou Trivino closed the 9th for his 18th save of the season. Sean Manaea will start here and is 8-7 with a 3.26 ERA and 141 strikeouts this season.

The Cleveland Indians will look to build on a 9-3 rout of Cincinnati in a makeup game on Monday. Jose Ramirez led the charge, going 2 for 4 with a two-run home run, a triple and three RBIs total while Bradley Zimmer and Wilson Ramos each had two RBIs with Ramos adding a two-run home run while Zimmer had a solo homer. Amed Rosario went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double and an RBI while Franmil Reyes added an RBI as well to cap off the scoring for the Indians in the win. Myles Straw had a double while Harold Ramirez and Andres Gimenez each had a base hit to finish off Cleveland’s offense as a team in the victory. Justin Garza got the win in what ended up being a bullpen game for the Tribe to improve his record to 2-0 on the year. Triston McKenzie will start here and is 1-5 with a 5.89 ERA and 83 strikeouts this season.

Oakland is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games as a road favorite. Cleveland is 27-55 in their last 82 games as an underdog and 3-8 in their last 11 games against the AL West while the over is 11-2 in their last 13 home games against a left-handed starter.

I get the case that could be made for Cleveland as the Tribe looked really good in beating up on Cincinnati on Monday. However, Oakland’s been rolling along lately in their own right and it’s not often you get bad starts in back-to-back games from Sean Manaea. Triston McKenzie’s been wildly inconsistent this season and I think Oakland gets the job done to start the series with a win.
