The Miami Marlins and the Colorado Rockies face off on Wednesday in Miami for game three of their MLB series.
After winning on Monday against the Rockies Miami came out on Tuesday and did the same. Casey McGehee and Jarrod Saltalamacchia each had a hit and a RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had a RBI and scored a run as the Marlins scored four runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi allowed six hits and two runs while striking out six to get the win and Steve Chisek earned his first save of the season. For Wednesday’s game the Marlins start Henderson Alvarez who was 5-6 last season allowing 90 hits and striking out 57 over 102.2 innings for a 3.59 ERA.
USA TODAY Sports
The Colorado Rockies haven’t gotten off to the start they had hoped to this season but they ar looking for their first win off the year here. On Tuesday Justin Morneau had three hits and Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez each had hits and drove in runs as the Marlins scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Brett Anderson allowed five hits and four runs, three earned, while striking out two over 6.0 innings to take the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Rockies start Jordan Lyles who has spent his career with Houston. Lyles was 7-9 last season allowing 165 hits and striking out 93 over 141.2 innings of work for a 5.59 ERA.
Miami is 5-0 in their last five games, 7-3 in their last 10 games as a home favorite, and 2-5 against the NL West. Colorado is 15-37 in their last 52 road games, 8-21 against the NL East, and 6-16 against a right handed starter.
This game is virtually a pick’em but I am going to go with the marlins who just look more dialed in.
