The Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees face off on Saturday in Toronto for game two of their AL East series.
The Toronto Blue Jays had a two game winning streak heading into their home opener on Friday but it all ended as they lost to the Yankees. On Friday Melky Cabrera hit a home run, Edwin Encarnacion had two hits, and Jonathan Diaz had two hits as the Blue Jays scored three runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Dustin McGowan allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out three to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the Blue Jays start R.A. Dickey who lost his first start this season. In his first start Dickey allowed five hits and six runs while striking out four over five innings in the losing effort. Dickey finished last season strong after a slow start as he hopes to get it going earlier this season.

The New York Yankees missed the playoffs last season and they are hoping to get back to it this year. On Friday Jacoby Ellsbury and Ichiro Suzuki each had three hits and Brett Gardener, Kelly Johnson, and Yangervis Solarte each had two hits as the Yankees scored seven runs on 16 hits. Starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka allowed six hits and three runs while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to get the win. For Saturday’s game the Yankees start Michael Pineda who pitched for the Mariners last season. Last year Pineda allowed 133 hits and 71 earned runs while striking out 173 over 171 innings for a 3.73 ERA. The Yankees know that with their current roster they don’t have too many chances left.
Toronto is 7-3 in game two of a series, 5-0 in Saturday games, and 4-1 in Dickey’s last five home starts. New York is 4-7 in their last 11 games on Astroturf, 0-5 as an underdog, and 1-4 against the AL East. New York is 3-5 in their last seven meetings in Toronto.
The total is set at eight and I like the under here and that is my free pick.
I also have a play on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
