The Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Sunday at Coors Field as they close out their NL West series.
The Colorado Rockies have won the first two games of this series and sit at .500 so far this season. On Saturday Nolan Arenado had three hits with two of them being home runs, Michael Cuddyer had a home run, and Charlie Blackmon added three hits as the Rockies scored nine runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Jorge De La Rosa allowed four hits and four runs while striking out four over 4.1 innings to not factor in the decision as Thomas Kahnle earned the win. For Sunday’s game the Rockies start Brett Anderson who lost in his first outing of the year. In his first appearance Anderson allowed five hits and four runs, three of them earned, while striking out two over 6.0 innings of work at Miami. The Rockies have traditionally been string at home and this season they are looking to be that way once again at least in the early going.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are off to their worst start in franchise history at 1-7 and losing again on Saturday. On Saturday Mark Trumbo hit a home run, Martin Prado had two hits, and A.J. Pollack had a hit as the D-Backs scored four runs on nine hits in all. Starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy allowed seven hits and six runs while striking out three over 6.0 innings to take the loss. For Sunday’s game the Diamondbacks start Wade Miley who has the only win for Arizona this season. In his first outing Miley allowed six hits and four earned runs while striking out five over 7.0 innings to hand the Giants their only loss of the year. The NL West looks to be tough again and while it is a long season falling behind early can end the season in a hurry.
Colorado is 4-0 against the NL West, 4-0 as a home favorite, and 2-5 in game three of a series. Arizona is 7-2 in game three of a series, 1-5 following a loss, and 1-4 in Miley’s last five starts as an underdog. Arizona is 7-1 in Miley’s last eight starts against the Rockies.
The Diamondbacks simply aren’t this bad and even though they are on the road here they get the win with their best on the hill.
