The Atlanta Braves go for the sweep of NL East rival the Washington Nationals on the road.
For unknown reasons it seems that Atlanta matches up well with Washington and it remains to be seen if that continues. It did Saturday in a 6-2 victory as the Braves rallied from a 2-0 deficit with both the arms and bats on the same page. Julio Teheran allowed both runs on three hits and four walks over seven innings of work. The bats pounded out 13 hits and walked four times with Dan Uggla leading the way with a pair of RBI's. Overall five players record two hits apiece. Lefty Alex Wood toes the rubber Sunday with the task of controlling the Washington bats. Wood opened 2014 with a 5-2 win over Milwaukee with a run allowed on five hits and a trio of BB in seven frames.

The Nationals looked good early versus the division rival Braves but it's not how you start but how you finish sometimes. That's how this one played out with the Nationals jumping out to a 2-0 first inning lead but not scoring again. In between a few miscues and a struggling Stephen Strasburg the Braves roared back. Strasburg gave up six runs (three earned) on eight hits and a trio of free passes over 4.1 frames. The bats didn't have enough to come back on with their five hits and five BB with Adam LaRoche clubbing a two run homer, his second of the year.Washington sends youngster Taylor Jordan to the bump for the first time this year. Jordan was an August call up a season ago with nine starts with a 1-3 record and 3.66 ERA.
It's really tough to sweep a good team on the road but not impossible. I think I might be stepping out on the limb a bit but I'll go with the better odds...
