The Line: Cleveland Indians -142 / San Diego Padres +132 --- Over/Under: 8 See the Latest Odds

The San Diego Padres and Cleveland Indians will begin their three-game series on Monday.

The Padres head into game 1 with a 2-4 record after losing two of three games against the Miami Marlins. Much like last season, the Padres struggle to put runs on the board, as they’ve scored three or less runs in five of their first six games. While the lineup tries to figure itself out, youngster Robbie Erlin will make his first start of the season for San Diego. Erlin started nine games last season and finished the year with a 3-3 record and an ERA of 4.12. Erlin has never pitched against the Cleveland Indians in his young career.

Cleveland Indians vs. San Diego Padres - 4/7/14

The Cleveland Indians lost two of three against the Minnesota Twins and are 3-3 on the season. The Indians pitching struggled in the last two games, allowing 17 runs in their last two games, but the lineup has woken up recently, scoring six or more runs in three of their last four games. Pitcher Corey Kluber will get the start for the Indians and hopes his performance is better than his first start this season when he allowed five runs in 3.1 innings. Kluber has never pitched against the Padres in his career.

The Padres are 4-1 in Erlins last 5 starts and 0-5 in their last 5 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Indians are 8-1 in Klubers last 9 home starts and 38-14 in their last 52 games as a favorite. The over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Cleveland.

The Padres have been absolutely brutal offensively and that should continue with the Indians throwing out Kluber on the mound. Kluber didn't look good in his first start of the season, but he rarely has back-to-back poor starts and with the Cleveland bats awake, I like the Indians to win game 1 at home.
