New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles – 9/10/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-10 19:05:00 EDT

The Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees meet in an AL East division matchup in MLB action from Yankee Stadium on Thursday night.

The Baltimore Orioles will look to rebound from a 7-6 loss to the New York Mets in their last outing. Rio Ruiz had a double and two RBIs while DJ Stewart had a solo home run while going 3 for 3 at the dish. Ryan Mountcastle went 4 for 4 with an RBI while Hanser Alberto and Renato Nunez each had an RBI to finish off the scoring for Baltimore in the losing effort. Cedric Mullins went 2 for 6 at the dish while Chance Sisco added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for Baltimore in defeat. Jorge Lopez allowed five runs on six hits with six strikeouts over 4.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Hunter Harvey took the loss in relief, falling to 0-1 on the year as a result. Keegan Akin will start here and is 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA and 15 strikeouts this season. This will be Akin’s second career start against the Yankees.

The New York Yankees will look to build on their 7-2 win over Toronto in Wednesday’s matchup. Gleyber Torres went 2 for 5 with a home run, a double and four RBIs while DJ LeMahieu had a solo home run and Luke Voit and Clint Frazier each had an RBI to cap off the scoring for the Yankees in the victory. Tyler Wade also chipped in a base hit as well in the winning effort for New York. Deivi Garcia got the win to improve to 1-1 after allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six over seven innings of work. Gerrit Cole will start here and is 4-3 with a 3.63 ERA and 70 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cole is 1-1 with a 2.10 ERA and 35 strikeouts against Baltimore.

Baltimore is 57-123 in their last 180 games as a road underdog and 25-74 in their last 99 series opening games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 Thursday games. New York is 68-26 in their last 94 home games and 1-5 in their last 6 games overall while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 series-opening games. The over is 50-12-1 in the last 63 meetings between these two teams.

If you had told me at the beginning of the year that at this point of the year, Baltimore would only be two games back of the Yankees I’d have thought you were nuts. But the Yankees haven’t been playing well and Baltimore’s been winning games more often than not lately. The thing is, both of these teams have the ability to put runs on the board in bunches, but Akin’s been good in his two starts and Cole needs a good start so I’ll side with the under as my free pick for this game but my stronger play is on the side and I have that available as a premium pick that you can find here.
