The New York Yankees will look to earn their third straight win when they host the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday afternoon. The Yankees took a 1-0 series lead on Monday with a 4-2 win.

With the loss, the Orioles fall to 2-5 on the season, which wasn’t exactly the start Baltimore fans were hoping to see. The lack of offensive production has been a concern, as the Orioles have been held to three or less runs in five of their first seven games. Nelson Cruz leads the Orioles with five RBI in 24 at bats. While the offense tries to figure itself out, Wei-Yin Chen will make his second start for Baltimore. Chen lasted 5.2 innings against Boston and allowed 12 hits and four runs. Chen, who has been an inconsistent pitcher throughout his young career, is 1-3 with a 5.58 ERA in seven career starts against the Yankees.

New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles - 4/8/14

The Yankees are now a game above .500 with the win and have won four of their last five games. Yangrevis Solarte has been on a tear with nine hits and six RBI already, but it’s the Yankees pitching that’s allowed three or less runs in four games that’s been the most impressive. Ivan Nova will get the start in game 2 for New York, and he allowed six hits and two runs in 5.2 innings in his first start against Houston. Nova was 7-3 with an ERA of 2.44 at home last season, and he’s 5-2 with a 4.46 ERA in his career against the Orioles.

The Orioles are 4-1 in Chen's last 5 starts during game 2 of a series and 1-7 in their last 8 road games. The Yankees are 11-4 in Nova's last 15 home starts and 21-6 in Nova's last 27 starts vs. a team with a losing record. Yankees are 4-1 in Nova's last 5 starts vs. Orioles, while the Orioles are 2-5 in the last 7 meetings.

Nova has been money when pitching in Yankee Stadium. I’m not sure how you go against him in this spot, especially with Baltimore having such a hard time scoring runs as it is. Get the Yankees at the cheap price, because it’s only going to go up the closer it gets to game time.
