The Colorado Rockies and the Chicago White Sox face off on Wednesday at Coors Field as they wrap up their interleague series.
The Colorado Rockies got the win on Monday in game one of their series against the White Sox but on Tuesday they were shelled and simply had no answers in a blowout loss. Michael Cuddyer had two hits including a home run, Justin Morneau had two hits, and Troy Tulowitzki had a hit as the Rockies scored three runs on seven hits in all. Starting pitcher Franklin Morales allowed eight hits and six runs while striking out three over 6.1 innings to take the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Rockies start Juan Nicasio who won his first start this year. In his first outing Nicasio allowed four hits and a run while striking gout six over 7.0 innings against Arizona.

The Chicago White Sox couldn’t hit the ball on Monday but they made up for it on Tuesday with an offensive explosion. Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia each hit two home runs, Marcus Semien had four hits, and Alexei Ramirez and Tyler Flowers each added home runs as the White Sox scored 15 runs on 19 hits. Starting pitcher Jose Quintana allowed five hits and two runs while striking out four over 7.0 innings to earn the win. For Wednesday’s game the White Sox start Erik Johnson who took the loss in his first start. In his last outing Johnson allowed 10 hits and seven runs while striking out two over 4.2 innings in Kansas City.
Colorado is 4-1 following a loss, 2-6 in game three of a series, and 2-5 in Nicasio’s last seven starts. Chicago is 3-10 in their last 13 interleague road games, 18-39 as an underdog, and 3-7 in game three of a series. Chicago has won six of their last eight games in Colorado.
While usually I look much deeper than pitching this one looks like trouble for the White Sox as Johnson was tagged in his last outing and pitching at Coors Field usually doesn’t help improve things.
